Take a Break!

It’s Monday and I’m a working mom. The day starts and ends with work and I could go all day long and never stop. But I know I’m not the only one who needs a break.
I like to compare myself to a marathon runner (maybe so I feel like I’m in shape or something:). They run so long, but there is a helper who hands them water throughout their race. If they didn’t take the water, they wouldn’t make it through the race.

You may feel weary and dry today. Do you need some water?
What, if, at that moment of thirst or exhaustion, instead of doing what I’m tempted to do (look for more sugar to eat) we would stop and listen to God asking us to come?
He wants to be our Helper who fills us with living water. It’s up to us to take the water.

David took a break . . .
Psalm 27:8 (New Living Translation)
My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”

I was singing the song today called “The Desert Song” (a good one to listen to when you’re dry) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79055I6o-NQ

My favorite part is the bridge that sings “All of my life, in every season, You are still God. (therefore) I have a reason to sing. I have a reason to worship!”

My circumstances change, but He never changes!I know that no matter what I face, I have a reason to worship!  HE, the One Who saved me, my help, my joy and my peace – HE is my reason. He’s always there waiting with a cup full of water for me!

I may have been dry and feeling the Monday blues. After I take a break and come to Him, I am refreshed and the trials seem smaller. What a difference worship makes! I feel empowered and full of purpose, filled up in His presence, armed and ready for victory.

1 Peter 1:6 (New Living Translation)
So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while.

So, try it . . . take a break and spend some time with Jesus and let Him love on you a little while. No matter what you may face, He will help you run your race!

For you other marathon runners, read more tips in Hebrews 12 . . .
Throw off whatever holds you down, run with perseverance, and fix your eyes on Jesus so you don’t grow weary and lose heart!
