Hello all! I just released my first short devotional. Here is an excerpt. You can easily pick this up at www.amazon.com. Enjoy!
For he will conceal me there when troubles come;
he will hide me in his sanctuary.
He will place me out of reach on a high rock.
As I read and reread this verse, I found myself asking, “Why would God, who has nothing hidden from Him, hide me?”
Has God hidden you? When has God placed you out of reach of trouble?
There are times when God displaces us. He sets us out of reach––high above where any person or circumstance can destroy. Sometimes, we clearly see the danger or understand the jeopardy we face. We can easily see God’s protection and offer thanks for His hiding us.
In other times, we don’t understand His hiding, His displacement of us. We might even experience confusion or feel that we are out of touch with others. We feel isolated. But when God sets us aside, when God places us out of reach, we can know and trust that His love compels Him.
I feel safest when I believe that His love sets the stage for my life. When I remain in His love as my dwelling place, I am secure. God’s love covers. His love shields. God’s love protects (1 Corinthians 13). Jesus said, “I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love” (John 15:9).
So, embrace His hiding of you. Receive His shelter over you as He protects you in His love. And, believe God has the very best in mind—yes, He has your safety in mind, but more than this, He has you in mind.
Thank God for His protection even when you don’t see it.
Guard me as you would guard your own eyes.
