Love and Compassion

Love and Compassion

There is a crown for you to wear today.

We often hear about the future crown awaiting us.  We read that we will lay this crown at the feet of Jesus.  Indeed, He is the only One worthy to wear such a crown.

But did you know there is a crown that God has prepared for us here – right here, right now?

Praise the LORD, my soul;

   all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

2 Praise the LORD, my soul,

   and forget not all his benefits—

3 who forgives all your sins

   and heals all your diseases,

4 who redeems your life from the pit

   and crowns you with love and compassion,

Psalm 103:1-4 (NIV)

  God crowns us, He rewards us, with love and compassion.  This crown is different.  This crown is one to be seen, indeed.  But this crown is to reflect the Giver, the Maker of the crown, not the one crowned.  We receive this crown of love and compassion from Him when we receive His free gift of salvation.  And, we receive this crown of love and compassion to exhibit for others to see what He has done for us.  We wear this crown as a statement of the transformative work that He does in each one of us.

Love and compassion cover us.  Love and compassion are visibly seen in our lives.  Love and compassion exude from our lives to people around us.

Love someone more today.  Have compassion on someone in need today.
