We were designed to be in relationship with God.
From the very beginning, God created you not just to exist, not just to survive, but to live with Him — to walk and talk and live, really live, with Him. He created you in His image. (Gen. 1:27)
Something ugly called sin got in the way and tried to separate us from God. In God’s love, His amazing love for us, He took care of the sin and covered it with His life. He put Himself over the sin when He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to this Earth to take our sin and make a way for us to be in relationship with the Father, God. He did this because He loves us.
For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:21
Our relationship with God begins when we receive the salvation He offers through His Son, Jesus Christ. His life, death, and resurrection were all designed by God to give people life and relationship with Himself. You, me, we all were in God’s mind when He set this plan in motion. When we accept His love, we receive the forgiveness of sins past, present, and future, and we begin a life with Christ — right here, right now — and for eternity.
But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Do you want to begin your journey, your relationship with God today?
Your interest, your desire to know God, is a clear sign that He is speaking to you. He speaks. He calls to each of us. He longs to be in relationship with you.
The Bible teaches that…
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.
… Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.
It’s that simple really.
Confess and believe.
Say to God that you receive His Son Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection as payment for your sin and the way to life. Praying is just that — talking to God.
Once you’ve received His salvation, you begin a journey that will last your lifetime — here on earth — and for eternity. If you are discovering God’s love and pursuit of you for the first time, tell someone. Start by sharing on Women Pursuing God! And, tell a friend.
